This position is 24
hours weekly.
Availability to work weekends and holidays is required.
Bay Area Pet Adoptions is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter located in Galveston County.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES This position includes but is not limited to:
Provide exceptional customer service Adoption counseling and client education Schedule appointments Answer phones Computer scheduling and data entry Launder and dry towels and blankets.
Perform general cleaning in the office building and in other areas of the facility to control the spread of disease Transport animals to appointments as needed Cross train for other positions may apply Provide pet food/supplies to community members from our Pet Food Pantry Stock the Pet Food Pantry Accepting donations and keep them organized Perform all other duties as assigned Strong organizational skills, a positive outlook and strong communication skills are required.
Must be comfortable working with cast, in addition to dogs of all sizes, breeds and temperaments.
REQUIREMENTS Experience working in an animal care environment is preferred.
Must be reliable, and punctual Possess strong communication skills and be able to work as part of a TEAM Ability to communicate respectfully, and calmly Possess a respectful attitude and positive outlook even during busy workload Ability to be productive, efficient, and respectful during high stress periods Willingness to learn and ability to retain information taught Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments Ability to work independently Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures Ability to take direction and constructive criticism well Exhibit a knowledge of vaccinations, additional veterinary assistant or vet tech skills is preferred Ability to work well with all employees and ensure that your actions support Bay Area Pet Adoptions and our mission Valid driver's license required Must be available to work holidays and weekends Only applicants with a current resume and contact information will be considered.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Knowledge of Bay Area Pet Adoptions principles and processes for providing a potential adopter knowledge about the animal's needs and behaviors Knowledge of dog body language, vaccinations, spay/neuter and heartworm prevention Ability to prioritize and work independently on assigned tasks, as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
Understand and carry out oral and written direction Creativity, social media and marketing skills preferred Ability to easily learn and utilize multiple software programs Intermediate to advanced computer knowledge and data entry skills Apply knowledge and skills in controlling/handling individual animal temperament Ability to perform moderately heavy physical labor Ability to communicate calmly, respectfully and effectively with the general public Additional ability to photograph adoptable pets and social media skills are preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
